JBCC Terminology
  1. This guardianship status means the JBCC has received confirmation from the county that the proposed guardian has qualified for guardianship and the guardianship is active with the county.

  2. This represents the status of your application in the registration process. Under View Pending Online Applications on your profile's home page, hover your mouse over the status to see the descriptive text which explains what the status means.

  3. This is the pdf copy of your application that you can save or print to keep for your records. This only reflects the information entered when the application was submitted. We strongly recommend saving the application summary for your records.

  4. The license number of the attorney.

  5. The case number assigned to the guardianship by the court.

  6. An individual that provides guardianship services for a living. The guardian passed the guardian certification exam and was issued a certification number and expiration date by the JBCC. This individual may be appointed as guardian to various individuals, their estates, or both the individuals and their estates.

  7. This guardianship statue means the JBCC has received confirmation from the county that the guardianship has been closed. This can occur for various reasons, such as the following:

    • when it is transferred to another county,
    • the ward has passed away,
    • the guardianship was not renewed by the county, or
    • a successor guardian was appointed, etc.

  8. This occurs when the court notifies the JBCC the guardianship has been terminated, dismissed, transferred, non-suited, the protected person is deceased, or the protected person no longer needs a guardian.

  9. This is the person authorities would contact if they cannot get ahold of the ward’s guardian. This is not the guardian’s contact information.

  15. The online database on the JBCC website where registration applications must be submitted.

  16. An individual, or program, appointed guardian to a protected person (i.e., ward) prior to 06/01/2018.
