Katherine Sanchez is the Quality Assurance Program Manager for the Forensic Science Department in Austin, where she is responsible for ensuring compliance with accreditation requirements and promoting continuous improvement efforts.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics from Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Katherine began her professional career in forensics as a chemist in 2008, analyzing seized materials for the presence of controlled substances. Early on, she developed a strong interest in quality and transitioned to her first quality assurance role in 2013. She then became the Quality Assurance Coordinator for a large laboratory system with multiple locations. In her former and current roles, she has been privileged to work collaboratively with experts in several forensic disciplines including bloodstain pattern analysis, breath alcohol, crime scene, DNA, digital multimedia evidence, firearms/toolmarks, friction ridge, questioned documents, seized drugs, toxicology, and trace evidence.
Katherine is a Certified Quality Auditor through the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and a Certified Forensic Manager-I. She is a forensic technical assessor for ANAB and a member of the Association of Forensic Quality Assurance Managers (AFQAM), American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors (ASCLD), and Texas Association of Crime Laboratory Directors (TACLD).
