Carina Haynes has worked with the Houston Forensic Science Center (HFSC) since 2017. She began her career as a Crime Scene Investigator in North Carolina in 2009 and transitioned to HFSC’s Crime Scene Unit in 2017 as the first civilian Crime Scene Supervisor. In May 2021, Ms. Haynes was named Director of the unit. Ms. Haynes received her B.A. degree in Criminology from North Carolina State University in 2008. She is Certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst through the International Association of Identification and currently serves as a technical assessor for ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB). She is a member of the Academy Standards Board (ASB) Crime Scene Investigation Consensus Body, International Association of Identification (IAI) and Texas IAI. During her career, Ms. Haynes has responded to hundreds of homicides, aggravated assaults, and officer-involved shootings. She recognizes the vicarious trauma involved with crime scene work and has provided multiple lectures on the importance of emotional wellbeing for CSIs.
