In re: the Commitment of Shipley, No. 02-26-00115-CV (Sept. 10, 2026) (Walker, J., joined by Sudderth, C.J., and Kerr, J.).

Held:  The procedures set forth in Anders v. California, 386 U.S. 738, 744–45, 87 S. Ct. 1396, 1400 (1967) apply to an appeal from a trial court’s order of involuntary civil commitment when court-appointed appellate counsel concludes that no non-frivolous issues exist. Because Chapter 841 of the Texas Health and Safety Code contains no statutory language extending appointed counsel’s representation to the filing of a petition for review, counsel may withdraw.
