In re J.R., No. 02-21-00060-CV (Apr. 15, 2021) (Wallach, J., joined by Birdwell and Bassel, JJ.).
Held: The trial court lacked subject-matter jurisdiction to enter an order on the dismissal date purporting to extend the dismissal deadline where the dismissal date had arrived without the trial court’s commencing trial or extending the dismissal deadline. Once the trial court’s jurisdiction had terminated, the trial court had no discretion to do anything but dismiss the case as a ministerial act.
