Clint Morgan won election to the First Court in the November 2024 general election.

Before his election, Justice Morgan served as an Assistant District Attorney of Harris County for twelve years, all in the appellate division. In that role he was lead counsel in more than 350 appeals, including 20 cases in the Court of Criminal Appeals. From 2016 to 2024, Justice Morgan wrote a regular column explaining new developments in the law for The Prosecutor, the journal of the Texas District and County Attorney’s Association. In 2023 he was honored to be inducted into the Texas Prosecutors Society, an organization of selected individuals devoted to improving prosecution and training in Texas.

Justice Morgan received a B.A. in Government from Claremont McKenna College in 2004, and a J.D., with honors, from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law in 2010. After law school, Justice Morgan served as a law clerk and staff attorney for two years to Judge Paul Womack of the Court of Criminal Appeals of Texas.

Justice Morgan is Board Certified in Criminal Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas’s Committee on Pattern Jury Charges—Criminal, which drafts and edits pattern jury charges for criminal trials. Justice Morgan has been married to his wife, Dorothy, since 2005. They have five children. The Morgans attend Fishers of Men Lutheran Church.
