Fifteenth Court of Appeals

The Honorable Michael A. Cruz was appointed as the Clerk of Court for the Fifteenth Court of Appeals on April 1, 2026. The Court made the appointment under Texas Constitution article V, section 5a. Mr. Cruz has served the State of Texas since 2011, including three appellate courts and the Office of the Attorney General. Prior to his appointment as Clerk, he served as Chief Deputy Clerk since the creation of the Fifteenth Court in September 2024.

Mr. Cruz previously served as Clerk of Court for the Fourth Court of Appeals in San Antonio, as Office Manager in the Human Resources Division at the Office of the Attorney General, as Executive Assistant in the chambers of Former-Justice Eva M. Guzman, and as Deputy Clerk in the Supreme Court of Texas Clerk's Office. Mr. Cruz has been a member of the Judicial Committee for Information Technology since 2023, having been appointed for his expertise in e-filing, appellate procedure, and court operations.

Mr. Cruz earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Mary's University in his hometown of San Antonio and his Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Texas.
