The National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) is a centralized computer system providing information to federal firearms licensees (FFLs) on whether a prospective purchaser is eligible to receive or possess firearms. Courts and clerks have a critical role to play when it comes to reporting necessary information regarding qualifying defendants. Specifically, district and county clerks are required to report on mental health adjudications and commitments. This webinar will help to answer questions about what and when qualifying information needs to be reported.
You can find more information on NICS reporting on the Other Reporting Resources page under Reporting to OCA.
